Be a residential electric customer of Xcel Energy living in Minnesota
Provide a valid Xcel Energy account number
Have the appliance picked up from the residential address listed on your billing account
Own the refrigerator/freezer you are recycling
Have the operational secondary refrigerator unit in your home for at least six months. (No primary units will be recycled.) Freezers must be standalone.
Refrigerators/Freezers must be plugged in the night before the pick-up date. The unit must demonstrate full operational capability when inspected at the time of pick up
Only recycle two refrigerators and/or freezers per household per program year
The refrigerator/freezer to be recycled must be 10-30 cubic feet. Most miniature and
commercially-sized refrigerators do not qualify. Freezers must be standalone.
Rebate amount is $50 for a qualifying refrigerator/freezer; rebate amount is
subject to change. Program is available February 14, 2013 - October 31, 2013; collections available starting March 1, 2013.
