To participate in the Xcel Energy Refrigerator Recycling program you must:
Be a residential electricity customer of Xcel Energy living in Colorado
Provide a valid Xcel Energy account number
Have the appliance picked up from the residential address listed on your
billing account
Own the refrigerator and/or freezer you are recycling
Must be an operational refrigerator or a standalone freezer
Operational is defined as in working order. All units must be capable of
cooling/freezing and the ability to make ice.
Refrigerators must be plugged in the night before the pick-up date.
The unit must demonstrate full operational capability when inspected at
the time of pick up
Only recycle two refrigerators and/or freezers per program year, per household.
The refrigerator/freezer to be recycled must be 10-30 cubic feet. Most miniature and commercially-sized refrigerators do not qualify. Freezers must be a standalone unit. Rebate amount is $50 per refrigerator/freezer; rebate amounts are subject to change. Program is available January 1, 2012 - December 31, 2013.
